At Bernstein Orthodontics, we love helping students discover how science and technology are part of everyday life, including healthy smiles.
Recently, Dr. Bernstein participated in STEM Night at Oak Grove Elementary School, where local families gathered for an evening of hands-on activities.
A typical STEM Night, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Night, is usually a family-friendly school event where students and parents rotate through hands-on educational stations, experiments, engineering challenges, robotics demos, coding activities, science experiments, and local business and community booths.
During the event, Dr. Bernstein hosted an interactive orthodontics station that gave students a behind-the-scenes look at how orthodontics combines healthcare with cutting-edge technology.
Students Explored Orthodontics Through Hands-On Learning

- Typodont models, which are teeth models used for learning and demonstrations
- Hands-on activities using orthodontic tools and materials
- A live demonstration of our iTero digital scanner, which creates precise 3D images of teeth without messy impressions
The iTero scanner was a highlight for many students, offering a real-world example of how digital technology is used in modern orthodontics. By seeing how teeth can be scanned and visualized in 3D, students got to experience firsthand how science, engineering, and innovation come together in healthcare.
Dr. Bernstein also spoke with students and families about oral health, tooth movement, and how orthodontists use technology to create personalized treatment plans.
Supporting STEM Education in the Cary Community
At Bernstein Orthodontics, we believe STEM extends far beyond the classroom. It was exciting to connect with students at Oak Grove Elementary and show them how science and technology play a role in creating healthy, confident smiles.
Bernstein Orthodontics is proud to support local schools, STEM education, and community events throughout the Cary area.
Thank you to everyone who visited our booth at Oak Grove Elementary School STEM Night. We loved meeting so many future scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals.
